WHAT IS FIBROBLAST TREATMENT?
Fibroblast treatment is a non-surgical lift procedure giving the same results as traditional surgery without damage to the deep skin tissue or muscle. There is no skin invasion, no bleeding and no scars. Fibroblast is virtually painless with anaesthetic applied locally prior to treatment. This innovative technique will not cause over lifting. Only the excess skin is affected during the procedure.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The Fibroblast hand-piece produces a tiny plasma flash which leaps from tip to the skin in a micro-millimetre sized point. This superficial point minimises the skin in its immediate vicinity - this reduces the excess skin, tightening the lid/under eye area. A series of tiny brown spots are strategically placed to attain the desired result for the excess skin.
HOW LONG DOES EACH TREATMENT SESSION TAKE?
It usually takes around 1-2 hours. This includes a full consultation before the treatment is commenced.
WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED WITH FIBROBLAST?
Unwanted wrinkles on face – frown lines, crow’s feet, smoker’s lines, neck lines etc.
Non-surgical blepharoplasty – lose, excess skin tightening of saggy upper and lower eyelids.
Scarring including stretch marks, acne scars and post-surgical scars.
Skin lesions such as moles, skin tags.
HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?
As Fibroblast is more than a simple tightening treatment (skin volume is actually reduced), the effects should last as long as they would with invasive surgery. Like all surgical and cosmetic procedures, the effects of fibroblast are not entirely permanent as it does not stop any further ageing, but the positive results should last year's depending on the area treated. The positive effects of treatment will be noticeable immediately after the first treatment, but the final results will be seen after 8 weeks. For some, an additional treatment may be required after 8 weeks for maximum results. Additionally, there are lifestyle factors that can prevent the result from lasting as long as they can, such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and prolonged sun exposure.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED?
The number of treatments required will vary according to the area being treated, skin's laxity, the desired degree of correction and the individual’s response to the treatment. Most clients see results instantly and this continues to improve over the course of the following 8 weeks. Further treatments can be carried out to get better results, although it is uncommon to require more than two treatments. Appointments must be spaced out by 8 weeks.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS AND WHAT IS THE AFTERCARE?
Following Fibroblast treatment, most people experience a mild burning sensation similar to sunburn which resolves after a couple of hours. Depending upon your own sensitivity tolerance this discomfort may last a little longer. If you feel particularly uncomfortable anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen can be taken. (Please ensure this is compatible with any other prescribed medication you may be taking). Or you may find using an ice pack on the treated area(s) will help to reduce the discomfort.
As a natural healing response, it is usual for the treated area to become swollen (approximately 1-2 days after), especially around the more delicate areas such as the eyes. Once again this can vary depending upon your natural rate of recovery; however, most people find it only usually lasts a few days. In extreme cases, the swelling can last several days and may initially interfere with vision. However, this is very rare and usually only happens when the after-care is not followed.
Initially, after treatment and for a day or so afterwards, there may be occasional weeping. This is simply plasma and is a natural healing response. As the treated area begins to heal, you will notice its drying out process, a brown/black crust develops upon the surface of the skin. This will simply flake off after a few days but in some cases can take over 2 weeks. DO NOT pick at this crusting as it can lead to infection or scarring. And it is very important to keep the treated area clean and dry. Avoid using alcohol-based cleansers; lukewarm boiled water is best for cleaning the treated areas.
